The Fall of the Lich King

by Horaxe, 114 days ago

Icecrown Citadel (10 Man) is Clear We haven't been doing "official" 10 man runs for a while, but a group of raids has been working on their own and managed to rip Arthas a new one last night. Great work all around guys.

Sindragosa Down

by Horaxe, 123 days ago

Frostwing Halls Clear!
Last night went well, we cleared all the way to Sindragosa and managed to knock her face into the dirt before calling it for the night. And now a moment of respectful silence...

With that said, your days are numbered Arthas...

Crimson Halls Clear!

Crimson Halls Clear!
Tonight we made record time, and even managed to get our first 25m kill of Blood Queen (despite some poorly placed bites). After that we knocked out Valithria and spent some time on Sindragosa. We didn't get her, but we've got all night Thursday to kill Plague and Sindy, then whatever's left we can use to work on Lich King. Arthas, we're coming for you!

Rusted Proto Farming!

Rusted Proto Drakes!
Last night we took a group into 10 man Ulduar in search of 310 fliers. It almost didn't happen, since Sharpobject got mind controlled and bubbled Yogg at 0%. Seriously, all but one raider dead with Yogg at like 100K HP. Then bubble wears off and the dots kill him. Anyhow, good work everyone, it was a lot of fun. And with that said, expect to see more and more Face on Fire members tooling around on their new mounts.

Good News

Plagueworks Clear!
A thoroughly fun week, Tuesday night we cleared to Putricide and made short work of him. Fine way to welcome our newest addition to the Hunter crew Fletcherr. Then Thursday we knocked out the Princes and made our way to Blood Queen, we did ok but with a few key players missing and some bad luck with lag, we decided to skip it and try Dreamwalker... We weren't disappointed.

Crimson Halls Week 1

by Horaxe, 193 days ago

Crimson Halls Opens!
New wing opened, and a couple of attempts later the Princes were down! Sadly, lag was bad so we didn't get any real tries at Putricide or the Blood Queen. But that gives us something to do Thursday night, so check back for more!

Raider Spotlight #3

by Horaxe, 201 days ago

Sometimes, it just isn't enough to say good work everybody. Eventually, you have to give credit where credit is due. It is with that thought in mind that we, the leaders of Face on Fire, have decided to institute the Raider Spotlight program. Periodically, we will be giving raiders of exceptional quality a chance to shine on the front page of the site. As well as giving them a nice little in game reward. It's just our way of saying thanks. And with that said, we would like to take a moment to recognize the efforts of one of our raiders: Zelthas.

As stated in his original application, Zelthas is a renowned Pancake lover, as well as eater of cupcakes. However, gastronomic predisposition aside, Zelthas joined us at a time when we were still filling out our tanking crew, the position of Paladin at that time was in contention and it wasn't long before Zelthas had proven himself in a very Beatlesesque way, "That guy's a good Pali tank, but Zelthas is a good Face on Fire tank."

And so once again, one guild's loss is our gain. Zelthas, we're glad to have you. And we hope that you'll wear your new boots well.

Well done Zelthas.

You have received a new item, [Boots of Kingly Upheaval].

The Plagueworks - Week 1

by Horaxe, 205 days ago

This week the Plagueworks opened adding 3 more available bosses to ICC. Tuesday night we cleared the Lower Spire in record time (I'm not sure anyone even died) and began poking around upstairs. The initial trash was a step up from the lower spire, there was fun, there was even a couple of wipes while the pulls were figured out. But we got in a couple of hours of work with the pre nerf Rotface, unfortunately the slimes weren't merging and we ended up calling it...

By Thursday night, things had changed. A hotfix had, well fixed the merging slimes issue so we went back in and knocked out Festergut and Rotface. Unfortunately, some of our core leadership weren't around to see the kills, but they'll get to see them next week. There was much rejoicing as we saw more cloth drops.

There was a problem with the Rotface pic, see when he died Khaas didn't stick around to take a screenshot... (thanks Someshta for rectifying that in my absence)

Because Khaas was on his way to get the guild's (and possibly the servers) first [Shadow's Edge]!

Great work everyone! Next stop Professor Putricide!

Happy New Year

by Someshta, 211 days ago

Ahhh New Year's, a time for Someshta to sing Auld Lang Syne and wax sentimental about the previous year. Our little guild has changed a lot in the last twelve months.

When 2009 started, Face on Fire was a much smaller guild. We pugged 3 spots in our 10 mans and we hadn't yet cleared Naxxramas as a guild. More importantly, our fearless leaders, the Queen and her Consort, Exvanlane and Femfatalia, were getting ready to leave for a six month stint in Russia, cutting our raiding force by a third.

We chugged along as a mostly friends and family guild, not being too serious about raiding. Our first night in Ulduar was wildly successful. Ex and Fem logged on from Russia with 1k MS and raided from 3-7 AM (their time) with us. Shortly after that, we started a guild alliance with Urge Overkill for our Ulduar 10 runs as well as 25 Naxx. We could often only muster four or five of the ten, with the other guild filling in the gaps.

Eventually we parted ways, Urge wanted to spend more time with Urge and we really didn't give two shits about Naxxramas anymore. Thus ended our informal alliance with Urge Overkill. It wasn't all bad though, we managed to gain a few new members from the fizzled alliance, and were able to field our own 10 mans.

CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN
With our leaders still gone and a taste of successful raiding, it came to Khaas and Someshta to soldier on. We began recruiting in earnest, and our ranks swelled. As our numbers grew, so did our list of accomplishments. Naxxramas, OS3D, and Ulduar all began to topple before us, and by the time of the release of 3.2 and Trial of the Champion the change had come: no longer just a handful of friends and family, Face on Fire was officially a raiding guild. Most importantly, our fearless leaders had returned, ready to push us even further in the new raid.

It was a long, tough journey with its fair share of growing pains, but when the dust settled we had not only a raid guild but a competent core of individuals who get more done in 2 days than most guilds do in a week. Now inside the walls of Icecrown Citadel, the denizens ponder their coming demise; Face on Fire has come. And this year, the Lich King will fall.

It's been one helluva a year, and the officers would like to say thank you Face on Fire for a rockin' time. With your help this year will be even better!
